Merrimack elementary school wins statewide award.
MERRIMACK – Mastricola Elementary School in Merrimack was named the state’s “Elementary School of Excellence” in a surprise announcement Tuesday morning.
The award is given by the Excellence in Education Initiative, a non-profit private group that gives annual awards to one elementary, middle, and secondary school in the state. It uses criteria developed by the group’s board of directors and applied by selection committees composed of educators and community leaders, based on school applications and on-site visitations.
The Mastricola announcement was announced before an all-school assembly of students, faculty, and local education officials.
